Hell, the only consoles I actually agree are a bit of a waste are Atari Jaguar, Turbografx 16, and 3DO. But I can at least understand why others, like Sega's post Genesis stuff aren't that great a buy since they tanked pretty early. And even so I loved those consoles anyway. Money well spent imho.
But come on. "Launch era" PS2? Because of the DRE thing? Hell, I had DRE FIVE TIMES and I still kept PS2 cos the games were great. The original PS kept freezing like a mad bas...
What the article calls "consumer loyalty" should be called "customer satisfaction", I think.
I was kind of interested up until they started talking crap. Trash-talking devs stink of overcompensation imo. It wasn't a must buy in the first place, but now I'm really quite skeptical.
Don't much care if it's on a phone, but paying to play an RPG in pieces bugs the hell out of me. I'll take full games, please.
This kind of article is the sport of hit seekers and flamebaiters. It just proves further that you can take a quote and put it in any context so long as you're willing to stretch the truth. This is almost an outright lie.
-The REAL question asked-
Q: "Are you currently focusing on allowing your licensees to use Natal better, or have your studios had any time to start experimenting with the dev kits?"
A: "Actually, we're just sitting down w...
Name: Neverwinter Nights 2
Type: Game-ending Bug
Description: ONE OF MY CHARACTERS TURNED INTO A DOG. Basically, if you have a summoned creature and a full party, you can't keep him out the whole time. If you do, you run the risk of overwriting one of your storied characters with their summoned creature. This of course breaks cutscenes, dialog scripts, and any scenarios featuring the lost character making the game impossible to complete. And the dog sucks in a fight.

It is almost infuriating to read industry professionals talking about traditional methods of storytelling almost as a throw away form of entertainment! I happen to like a good game story and it's usually one of the deciding factors in my purchases.
Reliance on emergent stories is lame. That's like walking into a movie theatre and when the lights dim, the curtain pulls back to reveal another audience. Then the usher says, "Entertain each other!" It's the reason I eventu...
If no trophies was the sole reason they didn't buy MGS4 or VC, then frankly those games deserve a better class of gamer.
I'm definitely one of those who would be pessimistic about the inclusion of MP in a good SP game. And though I don't care for online MP as a whole, I think they did a decent job adding it in. And from the footage, it doesn't look as if the SP has suffered one bit for it.
Update added to that... "It has since been updated to read as Spring, 2010 for all 3 platforms."
Anyway, I don't see how "it looks like Sony fans may be in a bit of luck". Hard dates are good. Unclear PS3 dates haven't exactly been harbingers of fortune this gen for the PS3. I hope it's just human error.
Beautiful. Too bad there are so few big name cyberpunk releases. I'd love to see the genre get more attention in gaming.
Last decent effort I saw was a HL2 MOD for goodness' sake.
I hope Bungie makes a defining game in Reach. And after that, I hope they go on to develop more quality, Halo or not. I'd love to see a non-shooter from them (they used to make those occasionally), but I hope whatever they make is successful.
I didn't watch it either. The only HHG show I ever watched was frankly uninformative and just a lot of rumormongering mostly.
I hope there's a source for this claim besides Bungie's announcement of their last Halo. But I wouldn't be surprised at the irresponsible reporting if it isn't.
Iirc the guy behind that series...Matsuno(?) is working on a Wii game. Or was that revealed to be MadWorld?
I get mixed about these things because I'm not sure if the market is willing to accept the sequel to a game that I embraced years ago. If they're willing to be faithful to the original games and tone but not dilute it for the unwashed, I'm in. Otherwise, meh.
Atlus has only two really well known series internationally, I think: SMT and Trauma Center. So I hope ...
@4show: I'm also going off a previous interview and it seems all he can do is talk up "fresh experiences" which are really just casual games. And looking at the structure of his domain, they aren't built to put out the titles their core fanbase would appreciate most. They have one or two studios set up for that and one focuses on a single franchsise (Halo). Natal isn't anathema among the "hardcore" titles. We've seen (with limits) the prototypical Burnout and Katamari. But...
So quick to blame MS. I was too.
But Sony can't get it right either. It is not as simple as you think it is for any of these companies. There were a few articles posted here for the Go's download pricing last week. Go read them. The prices are not better.
I really don't like where this guy seems to be headed. Praising stuff like Mafia Wars and lesser MMOG-like PC games. Sounds like he wants to focus on social/casual gaming. I don't personally like it.
Which brings me to Joyride from the recently acquired BigPark.
...Is anyone pumped for Joyride but him? I don't know many people who've heard of it at all. And why the heck is it f2p only to gold members? Sounds like a game a lot of people will miss. This is as boneheaded imo ...
Eh, forget MMOs. I like SP.
I'd gladly have another KOTOR on my PC from either Bioware or Obsidian. They should at least finish out the story. "And they never returned" is weak.
I actually WANT to try it now.
@fonzie: As a relic of the past yourself, I'm sure you can appreciate that something that fades away isn't automatically worthless.
